Larry & Stuart - Thank you both for your comments. It's actually amazing that after just two days of yoga and a day off, my foot is feeling remarkably better.

The question I challenge my readers with when we're faced with setbacks, is this: is it *really* as bad as you imagine, or do you just *think* it's bad (and therefore creating that 'worst' situation) based on past experiences and/or expectations?

Stuart, I totally agree that there's a lot of fear in the unknown. I think that's why we try and come up with a story that makes sense to explain or predict the fear. But I wonder if we tend to make it worse than it actually is, you know?

Larry, you're previewing another post I have in mind on our perceptions and how we create our experiences. :) It's such a fascinating topic.

There's a lot of fear in the unknown...how long will my injury last, when will that next contract start, when is the next bus coming?

If we knew the answers to these when the event happened we'd all have piece of mind at the time!

I am sorry to hear about the setback. These things are never easy but are the more defining points in life. How do you handle adversity. This could be considered minor in the grand scheme.

You have hit on a couple of points worth remembering:
 * When it’s not clear how bad it is, we tend to envision the worst.
 * Adopted a curious mind and thought about what I could learn
 * Our perceptions are so often within our control.

I could now jump into a "when I was your age" lecture but that is not what you want to hear. You know the right things to do. The hard part will be to remember the points above the next time something sets you back.

Good luck with the healing. It sounds like it well underway.
